USA - University of Pittsburgh Postdoctoral Position in Endocrine Stem Cell Biology

Two NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the Laboratory of Dr Danny Altschuler (Pharmacology and Chemical Biology, School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh) for outstanding, motivated postdoctoral fellows to study the role of stem cells in endocrine tumor development.

The goal is to understand whether thyroid tumors arise from a population of adult stem cells recently identified in the laboratory. Studies utilize new lineage tracing approaches based on reporter mouse lines developed in house. Experiments will involve classical cell and molecular biology techniques, molecular profiling, tumor transplantation in mice, and in vivo thyroid reconstitution/differentiation assays.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, a strong background in molecular and cell biology with tissue culture experience with mouse and/or human ES cells. Previous experience with laboratory mice and cell sorting (i.e. FACS/MACS), is a plus.
